Running events
Parkrun 5k
The parkrun is a free weekly 5k community event. The route through Haigh Woodland Park is perfect for shaking off those Saturday morning cobwebs and giving your body a boost after a Friday night.
Parkruns at Haigh take place every Saturday at 9am. Dozens of runners of all abilities turn up at Haigh Woodland Park for a 5k run. Set your own pace, make new friends, and afterwards grab a post run coffee at the Kitchen Courtyard Cafe.
If you're a first-timer, you'll need to:
Only ever register with parkrun once and don't forget to bring a scannable copy of your barcode (request a reminder (external link)). If you forget it, you won't get your run time (external link).
The Haigh parkrun is organised by volunteers - find out how to volunteer at Haigh parkrun (external link).
Running programmes
Looking to join a running group? Be Well leisure and wellbeing services run a number of Active Outdoors running programmes from venues across Wigan and Leigh.
Programmes include couch to 5k, 5k+, and 10k to 10 miles, so there's something suitable for all fitness levels and abilities.
