Tree Story Exhibition
The Story of Wigan through its trees was launched to celebrate Wigan Borough’s 50th anniversary. Through input from local communities and with generous support from the National Lottery Heritage Fund, this project invites you to discover and celebrate the trees that shape our borough’s landscape and heritage.
Haigh Parkrun
A free, fun and friendly weekly 5k community event. Walk, jog, run, volunteer or spectate – it's up to you! For first timers - simply register using the link below. The Artisan Traders are again bringing their amazing products and produce to Haigh. From cakes to candles, soaps to sandals, jewellery delights, and doggy treats and bites. Crafted for you and your home. Plus, all the fun of the park and its many attractions.
Summer Haigh Days: All in a Mouse's Night
This marvellous mousey tale combines puppetry and play in a gentle, non-verbal performance. Meet Mouse, a curious little fellow who sees the house at night as the perfect playground for adventure and exploration. Dreaming of travelling into the vastness of space, Mouse sets off on a journey to the moon. With a homemade rocket and plenty of determination, Mouse embarks on a wonderful adventure that is sure to delight young imaginations. Designed for families with young children, this charming production features sensory experiences, engaging puppetry and accessible storytelling that can be enjoyed by everyone—without a single word being spoken.
Summer Haigh Days: Roarsome Days
Get ready for a prehistoric adventure this summer at Roarsome Days, part of our exciting Summer Haigh Days programme, designed to create unforgettable memories for families. Step back in time and come face-to-face with a spectacular array of life-sized walkabout dinosaurs, including Cory the Talking Dinosaur, and his roarsome prehistoric friends! Meet, greet and snap plenty of photos as these incredible creatures roam about. Young explorers can also enrol in our Dinosaur Ranger Training, where they'll learn the skills needed to become an official dinosaur ranger through a fun and interactive experience.
The history of Haigh tour with Jim Meehan
Join Jim in the Haigh Community Room for a history talk on the hall, its estate, and the people who kept it running. Then enjoy a walk to key estate locations to discover how the estate operated and learn more about the people behind it. This is a free event with Jim taking donations on the day for Wigan and Leigh Hospice. Car park charges will apply.
Haigh Little Explorers: Family walk and story time
Bring a picnic and your blanket and join Jen for a fun, family-friendly tiger adventure. This short and gentle, pram-friendly walk includes a fun tiger food hunt and ends with a tiger-themed story time. Designed for early years children, this relaxed, welcoming activity encourages the whole family to get outdoors, enjoy some fresh air and spend time together.
Foodie Friday
The now legendary Foodie Friday nights are back - bigger and better than ever before! There will be many of your favourite street food traders to choose from, as well as some newbies and of course, the usual quality musical entertainment.
Nature walks with Discover The Wild: Autumn Foraging
Come on our autumnal forage through Haigh to discover the wild and cultivated plants and the fascinating stories, mythology and folklore surrounding them. On our seasonal foraging walks we will get to grips with some of these plants, some of them edible, some poisonous. You will learn how to identify them, learn about their fascinating ecology, how they fit in the landscape and their edible and medicinal uses. Where possible we will get hands on with the plants and even try some in the field; this is a great way to learn more about the plants around the estate.
Woodland spa days
Mindful Events aim to provide an enjoyable and non-judgmental environment for anyone wishing to ease their minds through guided mindfulness exercises in nature. Each session lasts for two hours and includes a gentle walk practising the power of pause, a self-heating eye mask, 1:1 crown chakra healing treatment, group reiki, guided mindfulness meditation and a nature-inspired sound bath.
Sessions run between 11am to 1pm and 2pm to 4pm.
