  • What is High Ropes?

    Haigh High Ropes is an exhilarating adventure ropes course where participants can tackle a range of exciting obstacles and elements in the spectacular Haigh Woodland Park at over 10 metres above our the ground, what a view.

    Haigh High Ropes features:

    • High Ropes Course with 13 elements covering nearly 200m of liner travel at a height of over 10 metres
    • Low Ropes Course with 9 elements cover over 80m of liner travel at a height of 5 metres.

  • Where is High Ropes?

    Haigh High Ropes is located 500 metres past the Kitchen Court Yard just after the Adventure Play ground. Our address is Haigh Woodland Park, School Lane, Haigh, Wigan, WN2 1PE.

  • What are the age and height requirements?
    • Low Ropes: ages 5 and over. Minimum height of 1.1 metres.
    • High Ropes: ages 8 and over. Minimum height of 1.2 metres.
  • How much does it cost?

    For up to date prices and availability please visit Haigh Woodland Park Visitors Centre or book online at www.haighwoodlandpark.co.uk. All our activities are also available for exclusive hire, corporate use, birthday parties and any other celebration, just contact the centre to discuss your requirements.

  • Do I need to book?

    We recommend that you book in advance as we are particularly busy at peak times, which tend to be weekends and school holidays. Simply use our online booking system.

    Full pre-payment will be taken at time of booking and a cancellation policy applies for all bookings. On site bookings, both advanced and for the day of the visit can be made in the Visitors Centre located close to the main car park

  • What should I wear?

    When deciding what to wear, you need to consider that there is a good chance that you will get hot, sweaty and slightly dirty, we also suggest that you should wear something that you wouldn’t mind getting slightly damaged.

    Appropriate footwear with soles with good grips should be worn to ensure your safety, our suggestion is that the best option in terms of footwear is ankle supporting boots or trainers. Sandals, slip-on shoes, high heels and other such shoes are not permitted under any circumstances.

    Long hair must be tied back. Body piercings should be removed and midriffs should not be bare as you may chafe whilst climbing.

    To protect your hands you may wish to consider wearing a thin pair of gloves.

    You will also have to consider the weather conditions on the day as you may need warm / wet weather clothes or sun cream.

    All other equipment is provided by us.

  • When should I arrive?

    You need to ensure you arrive at the Haigh High Ropes entrance at least 15 minutes prior to your allocated start time.

    In the event that guests arrive after their allotted start time they will not be able to participate in the activity and NO refund or transfer of booking will be offered.

  • Are there any restrictions?

    To ensure people’s safety the following restrictions will apply:

    • All participants must be at least 5 years old for all activities and 8 years old for the Upper Journey Course.
    • Each activity has a minimum height restriction of 1.1 metres and 1.2 metres for the Upper Journey Course.
    • Each activity has a maximum weight restriction of 120kgs and a minimum of 20kgs. For your own safety, you may be weighed if you appear to approach this weight.
    • An adult must accompany under 8 year olds. One adult can supervise up to 4 children under 8 years old.
    • An adult must be present to sign the activity consent form for under 18s.
  • Are there changing facilities available?

    We do not have changing facilities at Haigh High Ropes. Please ensure you come prepared for your activity.

  • How high is the course?

    Most of the course runs at about 10-12 metres above the ground. The low ropes course runs at half this height at 5-6 metres above the ground.

  • Is there storage for personal belongings?

    We have limited space for the storage of valuables at the course, we suggest you leave all items that you do not need in your car and retrieve it after you have finished on the course.

  • What are the opening times?

    Haigh High Ropes is open during school holidays and at weekend.  Opening times do vary depending on the time of year.

  • Is there any risk associated with the activity?

    The activity is high risk, following the safety rules and advice will reduce that risk, failing to follow these rules and advice could result in serious injury.

    For your own safety & comfort:

    • Helmets are required to be worn in all designated areas at Haigh High Ropes at all times
    • Tie long hair back
    • Remove all jewellery and body piercings. (Please do not bring these to the session)
    • Suitable clothing must be worn. (i.e. shoulders and waists must be covered) And remember to wear clothes you don’t mind getting dirty or even slightly damaged
    • No one is to take part in activities at Haigh High Ropes until a medical declaration is completed
    • Bring all medication you may need throughout the activity
    • Wear sensible sports shoes. (Open toed shoes, croc type shoes, espadrilles or open back shoes must not be worn)
    • You must not have anything in your pockets or attached to you that may fall (Please do not bring these to the session)
    • All participants must be at least 5 years old for all activities, and 8 years old for the High Ropes course
    • Pregnant women are unable to participate in the activity, as due to the nature of the activity involved there are many associated risks.
    • Each activity has a minimum height restriction of 1.1 metres and 1.2 metres for the High Ropes course
    • Each activity has a maximum weight restriction of 120kgs and a minimum of 20kgs.
    • For your own safety, you may be weighed if you appear to approach this weight.
  • Is there an instructor available?

    All participants will receive a safety briefing and training from an instructor before starting the course with instructors on hand to support throughout your experience.

  • Can family and friends watch?

    Spectating within the course is limited but great views are available from the surrounding footpaths and grassed areas. Access into the High ropes course is predominantly for participants. Our instructors at their discretion will allow limited access for spectators. The course is located in a prominent location and spectating opportunities from the surrounding footpaths and grassed area outside the boundary of the fencing is available.

  • What happens if I can’t complete the course and want to get off?

    Our team of qualified instructors have the ability and equipment to come and rescue you and exit safely from the course.

  • What else will we enjoy at Haigh Woodland Park?

  • What happens in adverse weather conditions?

    Haigh High Ropes is an excellent wet weather activity! The course remains open in all weathers, except when it is icy, stormy, in high winds or during lightning. Rain gives the course an extra element to the challenge – which all adds to the fun! Don’t forget to dress for the weather.

    Haigh High Ropes might need to cancel your booking. If this happens with in 24 hrs of your booking, we’ll refund you in full, if we give more than 24hrs we will issue you a credit note to re book at your convenience. Sometimes, unfortunately, we might need to close the course for reasons beyond our control. If you have already started the course you will not be entitled to any refund (in part or in whole). We will do our best to offer alternative dates or times at reduced rates.

  • What's the cancellation policy?

    We operate a cancellation policy on all activity bookings, so if you cancel your booking at least 7 days or more prior to your booking, you will receive a full refund. If we need to cancel your booking due to adverse weather and we inform you more than 24hrs before your booking we will issue you a credit note to re book at your convenience. If it is within 24hrs we will give you an option of rebooking or a full refund.

  • Must children be supervised?

    Yes, an adult (over 18 years) must accompany children under 8s. One adult can accompany up to 4 children under 8. The accompanying adult must remain at the High ropes for the full duration of the session. 

    Under no circumstances must children be left unsupervised, if such an incident occurs then these children will be removed from the course along with any accompanying adults, and in all cases NO refund will be offered.

    An adult must be present to sign the activity consent form for under 18’s and accept responsibility for ensuring that any minors in his or her care complete the course in accordance with the specific safety rules and advice given by the instructors. 

  • Do participants need to sign a disclaimer?

    All participants will need to sign a disclaimer before participating in the activity.

    Adults will also need to sign a disclaimer accepting personal responsibility the safety of any children less than 18 years in their care that uses the course.

  • Can I wear fancy dress?

    We appreciate that some groups may choose to wear alternative attire; we do not object to this and in fact in many cases we embrace the individuality and fun that such costumes can bring.
    We do however, ask you to ensure that:

    • There is nothing dangling from the costume that might get caught on parts of the course 
    • Your outfit does not obstruct your sight
    • Your midriff is covered so that you do not chafe on your skin
    • Sensible shoes such as trainers or walking boots must be worn in all cases

    In any situation, if our team of instructors feel that you are wearing something which could be dangerous or cause an accident to you or others they will ask you to change before starting the course, so please make sure you bring a change of clothes with you to avoid disappointment.

  • Can I bring my camera/camcorder?

    Yes, you can! However for safety reasons we ask that all pictures/videos are taken from outside the course. When you arrive just ask the instructors to help you get the best pictures.

  • What if I have a medical condition?

    Our instructors are not medically qualified and will not stop you using the facility, however, common-sense should prevail and every participant must sign a disclaimer to confirm that they are physically capable of participating.

  • Is it safe?

    Yes, Haigh High Ropes is fun and exciting – and safe, too.

  • Do we wear helmets?

    Yes, we supply them for you along with a harness.

  • Do you organise parties?

    Yes - any excuse for a celebration.
